Asher's World: May 2014

It was a LONG tough winter, but here we are finally in May!

As I write in every post about Asher, time is flying by and April was a full fun month. I feel like Asher has changed right in front of my eyes. He gets funnier and cuter ever day.

We started the month off with a quick photo shoot at my friend Jen's. These are a few of the "6 month" photos and they turned out amazing! (Just a few to share. If you want to see more go here:

We had a few birthday parties to attend and Asher loved every minute. I see his face light up when we are in a room full of people. I think we have a little social bug on our hands. I've learned if I want him to sleep, there can't be anyone exciting around.

I've started making my own baby food! This is an adventure for me as I'm still working and trying to figure out what my new life with Asher looks like. I took a day and made sweet potatoes, rutabega, beets, carrots, peppers, califlower, brocolli, prunes, apples and pears. I had no idea how much this would make. I just started boiling things and soon discovered one sweet potatoe makes a lot of food. Most of it I froze and it has lasted all month. Now to figure out how to make rice cereal.

We had some crazy weather this month with one last snow storm as well as hail. But eventually it all got worked out and we were able to get out for a few walks. Now we wait for the rain to stop. In a few weeks Asher takes his first camping trip! We are praying for good weather.

We had a visit from Auntie Tomi. It's always fun to see her and she made Asher a new hat! If it's cute and Asher's wearing it on his head, it's probably made by Auntie Tomi. She's pretty talented! She also made his owl hat in his newborn session. She's the best and is always spoiling Asher (and us) with fun things. Thank you Auntie Tomi, we love you!!!!

This month we celebrated Easter! It was so much fun to celebrate this holiday with Asher. He's just a baby, but we decided to start our traditions this year. (Ok, I decided. haha) I was in a skit at church so I was gone a bit because of rehearsals as well as performances. Easter morning we woke up and Asher searched for his basket!

He finally found it and was THRILLED! OK ok...he didn't really know what was going on, but he was excited because he could tell I was excited. It was a very fun morning.

Gramma Lou came Saturday and was with us Easter morning. It's always fun to have her around! After I got back from church we all went to Janine's (drew's cousin) for dinner. Grampa met us there and it was a beautiful day so we took lots of pics.

The weekend after Easter we decided to take a trip up to Uncle Gordon's house and celebrate the Maple Syrup Festival in Shepherd. My cousin Mandy and her family were coming home and Laura was already going up as well, so we had a house full of fun! The festival started out Friday night with an "Emergency Vehicle Parade". Nope, I've never heard of such a thing either, but it's a small town, and I honestly don't know who had more fun, Drew or Asher.

Saturday was full of lots of fun. We got up early to go to the craft show and see a few more cousins, then we rode a few rides, got our faces painted, rode a pony and ate some pancakes. It was a beautiful day.

It was a fun month but very busy. We are looking forward to May flowers and warmer days to play outside. Drew leaves for grad school in a few days and we are praying he has a safe and quick trip. We will be going to stay with Gramma Lou and Grampa Dick and we know we will be taken care of. They always spoils us!
